British Muslims Celebrate Strong Faith-Charity Bond at Muslim Charities Convention
———————————–
British Muslims continue to demonstrate a profound connection between faith and charitable giving, contributing £200 million annually to various causes, a recent convention highlighted as reported by Religion Media Centre. The Muslim Charities Convention, held at the ILEC conference centre in southwest London, brought together leaders and experts to discuss the sector’s contributions and challenges.
The Charity Commission reported that last year 178 charities registered with Islamic faith objectives, reflecting the enduring role of religion in UK charity work. Speakers emphasized the importance of dignity in aid delivery, moving beyond handouts to empower communities with respect and cultural understanding.
Workshops at the event covered diverse topics including local community initiatives, sustainable investment models, transformative projects, innovation, and women’s leadership. A significant milestone was the launch of the Muslim Charities Forum Women’s Network, aimed at empowering Muslim women leaders through mentorship and career support.
Keynote addresses stressed the need for smarter, impact-driven charity programs that influence policy and address global crises such as the conflict in Gaza. Dr Abdal Hakim Murad praised the charitable sector as a vital and thriving part of modern British Islam, calling it one of its greatest success stories.
