Nigerian Air Force Kills Dozens of Bandits in Niger State Airstrikes
……………..
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced it killed dozens of armed bandits during recent airstrikes in north-central Niger State, media outlets reported. The strikes, part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, were carried out from Tuesday to Thursday following credible intelligence on terrorist activities in the Kakihun and Kumbashi communities.
NAF spokesman Ehimen Ejodame said the mission, supported by ground troops, targeted those responsible for recent attacks, cattle rustling, and other criminal activities in the region. Multiple waves of precision airstrikes destroyed the bandits’ logistics and disrupted their regrouping efforts, he added.
While the Air Force did not disclose the exact number of casualties, military sources told Anadolu Agency that at least 60 bandits were killed during the operation. Banditry remains a major security threat in Nigeria’s north-central and northwest regions, where armed groups frequently raid villages, kidnap residents for ransom, and steal livestock.
President Bola Tinubu has vowed to tackle banditry and terrorism, warning armed groups to surrender or face decisive action. The Nigerian military said it remains committed to protecting citizens and restoring lasting peace through coordinated operations with ground forces and other security agencies.
