The third UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) officially opened in Bangkok on Wednesday, gathering global leaders, AI experts, industry pioneers, and policymakers to address the challenges and opportunities of AI development, Xinhua reported. The forum aims to drive tangible progress and foster international collaboration toward a responsible and ethical AI-powered future.

UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay emphasized the urgent need to guide AI development with ethical values, highlighting how AI is transforming all aspects of life and placing humanity at a critical crossroads. She called for inclusive multilateral cooperation involving governments, experts, businesses, and civil society to navigate this transformation effectively.

“Because AI is a global phenomenon, it requires an international response,” Azoulay said. “UNESCO is preparing the world for AI and preparing AI for the world, ensuring it serves the common good.”
