Afghanistan: Flash floods wipe out five villages in Andarab Valley
……………….

Flash floods triggered by the collapse of a reservoir wall devastated five villages in Afghanistan’s Andarab Valley early Saturday, according to local residents. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. in Pul-e-Hisar district, when water surged through the Taghank gorge, destroying homes, farmland, bridges, mosques, and livestock.

Villages including Shurabak, Mad Naj Khil, and Darband-e-Tirgaran were completely washed away. Nearby areas also suffered significant damage. While no casualties were reported due to early evacuation, hundreds remain affected. Taliban forces conducted limited rescue operations, and the Red Crescent has begun assessments, but substantial humanitarian aid has yet to reach the region.
