Malaysia launches National Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition

Malaysia officially launched the National Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition for the year 1446 AH yesterday at the “2020” Hall in Kangar, the capital of Perlis state. The event features 109 participants from across the country and drew notable official and public attendance.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech expressing his pride in hosting this Quranic event, which he described as one of Malaysia’s most significant Islamic occasions. He emphasized the Quran’s vital role in shaping individuals and preserving Islamic identity.
The president affirmed that learning and memorizing the Quran form a foundation for uplifting Muslim communities, calling for integrating religious education with future-focused skills such as language, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence to ensure Muslim advancement in today’s rapidly changing world.
The competition will continue until May 2, attracting growing media and public interest, reflecting the revered status of the Quran in Malaysian society and its deep appreciation for reciters and memorizers.
