Unity Iftar Dinner Promotes Interfaith Understanding in Oldham

The European Islamic Centre in Oldham on Saturday hosted a ‘Unity Iftar’ dinner aimed at fostering community engagement and understanding among different faiths, Asian Image reported. The event, attended by Mayor Zahid Chauhan and Council Leader Arooj Shah, brought together over 100 guests, including representatives from the Oldham Interfaith Forum, Greater Manchester Police, and Hathershaw College.
Participants toured the venue, which featured an exhibition about Islam, a games room, and a food bank serving 50 families biweekly. Imaam Hammadur Rahman delivered a presentation on Ramadan, emphasizing the significance of the holy month.
The initiative, organized by the UK Islamic Mission (UKIM), aims to bridge gaps between communities. Deputy Mayor Eddie Moores remarked on the informative nature of the event, highlighting the importance of such gatherings in combating misinformation and promoting integration. Mayor Chauhan noted that the Iftar fosters harmony and understanding, contributing to stronger community bonds in Oldham.
