Quran Tutor Assaulted in Delhi, No FIR Filed

Hafiz Obaidullah Qasmi, a Quran tutor, was brutally assaulted by three youths in Laxminagar on the night of March 10, India Tomorrow reported. The attack occurred as he was returning home after teaching students. Obaidullah, who also works as a salesman, reported that the assailants surrounded him, threatened his life, and used Islamophobic slurs, including “Pakistani” and “Kathmullah.” One attacker allegedly brandished a pistol and identified himself as Deepak, claiming he would not allow “mullahs” to live in the country.

Despite the presence of bystanders, no one intervened during the assault. Obaidullah managed to escape with the help of two individuals and sought refuge at the house of a student’s family. He reported the incident to the police, but as of the report’s filing, no FIR had been registered. The attackers fled in a car marked with a “Mahadev with a tiger symbol.”
