IARC Celebrates International Day of Women, Girls in Science

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) marked the 10th International Day of Women and Girls in Science on Tuesday, celebrating the significant contributions of women in the field, the organization’s website reported.

Over 60% of IARC’s scientists are women, including the agency’s Director, Dr. Elisabete Weiderpass, and leaders of key publication series such as the WHO Classification of Tumours and the IARC Monographs on Carcinogenic Hazards.

IARC emphasizes its commitment to building capacity among cancer researchers globally, with 65% of its Early Career and Visiting Scientists being women. Through various fellowships and training programs, IARC has empowered thousands of women in cancer research, fostering their professional growth.
