SRW condemns forced displacement of over 25,000 Shia residents from Syria’s Homs province

Shia Rights Watch (SRW)—an international pro-Shia rights organization—has condemned the forced displacement of residents from villages along the Orontes River in Syria’s Homs province.

In a statement published on its official website on Sunday, the rights organization called on relevant international bodies to denounce these violations and hold the responsible terrorist groups accountable.

The organization confirmed that it had reviewed credible reports and testimonies indicating that over 25,000 Shia residents of villages west of the Orontes River in the rural Qusayr area of Homs province were forcibly displaced to Lebanon in recent days.

Reports also confirmed that these terrorist factions burned all homes and properties of the displaced individuals. Furthermore, there were accounts of executions and acts of brutality against Shia civilians in some of these villages.

SRW said in its statement that it holds the authorities in power in Syria legally accountable for these violations, reiterating its warning of the dangers of escalating terrorist activities in the coming period.
