Arrest Warrant Issued for Bushra Bibi Amid Ongoing Legal Turmoil for Imran Khan

A Pakistani court has issued an arrest warrant for Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, linked to a corruption case involving the unlawful sale of state gifts valued at over 140 million rupees, Arab News reported. Bushra was previously released on bail in October after spending nine months in prison. Both she and Khan, who is currently incarcerated facing multiple charges, deny the allegations.

As protests demanding Khan’s release escalated into violence, Bushra sought refuge in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The new warrant allows the National Accountability Bureau to detain her again if necessary. The government has stated that no protesters were killed during the unrest, despite claims from Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), of casualties.

In a separate development, Khan was indicted for his involvement in an attack on the army headquarters last year. He faces around 130 cases, including corruption and terrorism charges, following a series of new filings by authorities. The situation remains tense, with ongoing arrests of PTI leaders and supporters amid calls for political reform and accountability.
