At least five people, including three schoolgirls and a police officer, were killed in a roadside explosion in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Friday, according to police.
Thirteen others were injured in the attack, which targeted a police van during a routine patrol near a girls’ school, Fateh Baloch, head of the Mastung police station, confirmed.
Authorities have secured the area, and the injured have been transported to local hospitals, Mastung Deputy Commissioner Baz Muhammad Marri reported.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast, although Balochistan has experienced frequent violence from separatist groups and other militants targeting police and security forces.
