Pakistani Forces Kill Four TTP Members Amid Rising Tensions, Violence
The Pakistani Army announced the killing of four members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during two operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, specifically in the Janikhel area of Bannu district and Hassan Khel in North Waziristan, according to local sources.
This action came shortly after the TTP declared a five-day ceasefire in respect for a Pashtun tribal assembly. Intelligence reports guided these operations, which also resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of weapons and ammunition.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing operations against insurgents, emphasizing the need to neutralize all threats. This announcement occurs amid escalating tensions between the government and opposition groups such as the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which advocate for the rights of marginalized communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a related incident, two terrorists involved in the 2021 Dasu Dam attack were killed by their accomplices while being transferred from Sahiwal Jail. The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department reported that unknown assailants attacked police vans, leading to the deaths of the terrorists.
