Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Unique Qualities of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) Not Found in Any Other, Including Prophet (peace be upon him and his family)

On Sunday, the second of Rabi’ al-Thani, the scholarly session led by Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi took place in his residence, where he addressed various jurisprudential questions from attendees, continuing the tradition of previous meetings.

During the session, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi emphasized the virtues of Imam Hassan and Imam Hussein (peace be upon them), stating that Allah, the Exalted, mentioned Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) more frequently than Imam Hassan (peace be upon him) in the Quran, and that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his pure family) and the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them all) also mentioned Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) more often. The Supreme Marja noted that the Ziyarat and statements regarding Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) are more numerous than those concerning Imam Hassan (peace be upon him).

Despite this, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi highlighted that on Ashura, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) acknowledged his brother Imam Hassan (peace be upon him) as being superior to him. He reiterated that while Imam Hassan (peace be upon him) is indeed superior, Allah has bestowed unique qualities upon Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) that are not granted to anyone else, including their grandfather, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family).
