Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stresses importance of rulers monitoring their actions, citing approach of Imam Ali
The Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, emphasized the importance of rulers being fully aware of what occurs within their areas of governance, highlighting the necessity for them to oversee their officials and representatives throughout their jurisdiction.
The Grand Marja’s statement came during one of his speeches, where he discussed the role of leaders in providing security and welfare for the people.
His Eminence referenced the example set by Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him, during his rule, noting how Imam Ali made a point to regularly check on the officials and governors he had sent to various regions.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi explained that Imam Ali would send observers to monitor the actions of these rulers to ensure he remained informed of their conduct. Even though Imam Ali had divine knowledge, he operated in this way to maintain transparency and accountability.
The Supreme Religious Authority underscored that rulers and officials, especially in Islamic governments, must always bear the responsibility of caring for their citizens’ affairs, stressing that this responsibility requires careful oversight of actions and behavior to ensure justice and prosperity for the people.
