Military Helicopter Crashes in Colombia, Eight Soldiers Killed

A military helicopter crash in Colombia has claimed the lives of eight soldiers on a humanitarian mission near the Venezuela border, TRTWorld revealed yesterday.

The incident occurred in the eastern department of Vichada, with President Gustavo Petro confirming the tragedy on X. The Colombian Air Force reported that the helicopter was found in a rural area of Cumaribo, with no survivors.

Images from the scene show the burnt wreckage in a grassland. Families of the deceased soldiers are receiving support as recovery efforts continue. This crash marks the latest in a series of military aircraft incidents in Colombia this year, following a separate crash in April that killed nine soldiers and another in February that resulted in four fatalities.

Meanwhile, in eastern Spain, three individuals died when their helicopter collided with power lines while inspecting electric cables near Pucol. Emergency services confirmed the deaths at the scene, and the area remains hazardous due to hanging live wires and spilled fuel.
