Ten Dead, Seven Missing in Nepal Floods and Landslides

In Nepal, ten people have died and seven are missing due to severe floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall, Xinhua reported yesterday.

The incidents occurred across Kavrepalanchowk, Lalitpur, and Dhankuta districts, where numerous homes were either destroyed or swept away. Nepal Police spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki reported over 175 incidents of flooding and landslides since Friday, resulting in significant loss of life and property.

Approximately 400 individuals have been displaced as heavy rains continue to affect most parts of the country, including Kathmandu. Many roads remain blocked due to the landslides, complicating rescue efforts. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has warned that heavy rainfall is expected to persist until Sunday, raising concerns for further casualties and damage.
