UN Adopts Pact for Future to Address Global Challenges

The UN General Assembly unanimously adopted the Pact for the Future on September 22, alongside the Global Digital Compact and the Declaration on Future Generations, Anadolu Agency reported.

This comprehensive agreement aims to enhance global governance and tackle pressing issues such as sustainable development, international peace, and technological innovation.

General Assembly President Philemon Yang described the pact as a commitment to address immediate crises and establish a sustainable, just, and peaceful global order. The Global Digital Compact promotes an open, human-centered digital future, while the Declaration emphasizes the rights of future generations in decision-making.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres highlighted the need for 21st-century solutions to modern challenges, stating that tough decisions are necessary to reform international cooperation. He called for solidarity and multilateral efforts, viewing the upcoming Summit of the Future as a vital “call to action” for protecting humanity and the planet.
