Over 3.5M pilgrims commemorate sorrowful martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Askari in Holy Samarra

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced that over 3.5 million pilgrims had commemorated the sorrowful martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hasan al-Askari, peace be upon him, in Holy Samarra.

Pilgrims from various Iraqi provinces and other countries observed the religious event at the Holy Askari Shrine in Holy Samarra, amid security and service plans all over the city and the streets leading to it.

This significant event emphasizes the deep devotion of the Shi’a community to Imam al-Hasan al-Askari, peace be upon him, as well as the importance of Holy Samarra as a religious and historical centre.
