Fire Breaks Out at Girls’ School in Isiolo, Several Injured

A significant fire erupted at a girls’ school in Isiolo town on Saturday, injuring several students and destroying the dormitory, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday. Local authorities confirmed that a rescue operation is currently underway, with police spokesperson Resla Onyango reporting the fire has been contained.

Video footage shared online shows flames engulfing the dormitory, while the cause of the blaze remains undetermined. The Kenya Red Cross has deployed emergency teams to the scene to assist with rescue and recovery efforts. “Our teams are providing necessary support and assessing the situation,” said Red Cross official Isaac Mohammed.

This incident follows a tragic fire at Hillside Private Mixed Primary School in Nyeri just a day earlier, which claimed the lives of 21 children aged between 9 and 13. Authorities are urging for thorough investigations to prevent future tragedies as they work to support affected communities.
