Tokyo Launches AI System to Boost Disaster Response

Tokyo has unveiled an AI-driven system aimed at improving disaster response times for incidents such as fires and building collapses, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

Developed by Hitachi Ltd., the system employs high-altitude cameras to automatically detect emergencies in real-time. Upon identification, it swiftly communicates critical information to relevant agencies, including the police, fire department, and Japan’s self-defense forces, ensuring a rapid response.

This initiative is particularly timely as Japan remains vigilant amid warnings of a potential “mega” earthquake. High-resolution cameras have been strategically installed at Tokyo metropolitan government buildings and various locations throughout the city to enhance monitoring capabilities.
