Nearly 10,000 Palestinians Detained in Israeli Prisons Amid Ongoing Conflict

A report released by Palestinian organizations estimates that around 9,900 Palestinians are currently detained in Israeli prisons, Anadolu Agency reported today.

Among them are 3,432 administrative detainees, at least 250 children, and 86 women, including 23 under administrative detention. The report highlights that 1,584 detainees from Gaza are classified as “unlawful combatants.”

Since the escalation of conflict on October 7, over 9,920 arrests have been recorded, including approximately 345 women and 690 children. Notably, 93 journalists have been detained, with 55 still imprisoned. The report indicates that around 7,500 administrative detention orders have been issued since the conflict began, impacting many women and children.

The ongoing arrest campaigns are accompanied by reports of severe human rights violations, including brutal beatings and home demolitions. A recent UN report reveals allegations of widespread torture and abuse of Palestinian detainees by Israel during the Gaza conflict. Thousands have been held incommunicado, with reports of severe mistreatment, including sexual violence and deprivation. The Israeli military often does not disclose reasons for detentions, violating international human rights laws. At least 20 detainees have died, with many more casualties among Gaza detainees whose circumstances remain undisclosed.
