Resumption of Work on Um al-Banin (peace be upon her) Courtyard Project

The engineering teams at al-Abbas Holy Shrine have resumed work on Um al-Banin (peace be upon her) Courtyard project. The total area of the courtyard is 20,000 square meters, which includes a basement occupying the entire area of 10,000 square meters, while the first and second floors consist of porticoes, each measuring 4,000 square meters, and the central courtyard covers an area of 6,000 square meters.

According to the project’s resident engineer, Mr. Hussein Muhammad Baqir, “Work has resumed on the Um al-Banin (peace be upon her) Courtyard project, located on the northern side overlooking the courtyard of Abal-Fadhl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), as part of the expansion projects at the al-Abbas Holy Shrine in the Bab Baghdad area.”

He added that “the engineering and technical teams have completed all earthworks, resolved conflicts with existing infrastructure, and finished soil support works. Previously, work began on the concrete structure of the basement, and due to the project’s size and the technical and engineering requirements, it has been divided into multiple phases.”

Baqir further stated, “The concrete structure, including the pouring of the foundation, retaining walls, columns, bridges, and ceilings, has been completed for 70% of the total basement area.”

He pointed out that “the wooden formwork and final reinforcement for the ceiling of the last section of the basement and its bridges are currently being implemented, with the completion of the concrete structure expected within the next few days, reaching 100% for the Um al-Banin (peace be upon her) Basement.”
