800 Families Affected by Heavy Rains in Yemen’s Amran Province
Heavy rains in Yemen’s Houthi-held Amran province have impacted 800 families, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday citing the United Nations.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported that torrential downpours struck the Qaflah area, causing significant damage. Of those affected, 300 families are in internally displaced persons (IDP) sites, while 500 families reside outside these areas.
UNHCR is working with partners to address urgent needs, including food, hygiene kits, clean water, and temporary relocation assistance.
Recent flash floods have also affected other northern provinces, such as Saada, compounding the challenges faced by a population already suffering from nearly nine years of conflict and a severely weakened infrastructure.
