Scorching Heatwave Grips US, Breaks Records Across the Country

Over 130 million people in the US are under threat from a prolonged heatwave that has already set new temperature records, Al Jazeera reported yesterday.

Forecasters warn of dangerously high temperatures from the East Coast to the West Coast, with the Pacific Northwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast expected to see temperatures soar above 100°F (38°C).

Dozens of heat records could be broken, forcing millions to seek relief in cooling centers. The eastern US, including Baltimore, is also bracing for excessive heat. Authorities are urging people to stay hydrated, avoid the sun, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

The heatwave has also heightened the risk of wildfires in the western US, with several blazes already burning. Meanwhile, the remnants of Hurricane Beryl are expected to bring heavy rains to southern Texas early next week.
