Black banners of mourning and sorrow cover interior walls of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine

Imam Hussein Holy Shrine has announced the start of its special preparations to receive the holy month of Muharram, by hanging black banners on the interior walls of the holy shrine.

Officials at the Maintenance Department said that, “The technical staff in the Embriodery Unit, with support from other units, began their preparations to receive the holy month of Muharram in an atmosphere of sadness and sorrow.”

They added, “the unit began two months ago on finishing all preparations for receiving this sad month and to create the appropriate atmosphere for the honorable pilgrims coming to the holy city of Karbala to hold mourning ceremonies.”

The officials confirmed that that all preparations for the ceremony of changing the flag of the honorable dome of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine from red to black have been arranged.
