German researcher presents study on Imam Ali’s views, their relevance to Muslims in Europe

Dr. Markus Mehdi Gerhold, an academic researcher from Germany, discussed a study addressing the thoughts of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, and their connection to the daily life of Muslims in Europe.

The researcher presented his study during the morning research session of the 2nd International Scientific Conference on Imamate Week, held in English and organized by Al-Abbas Holy Shrine.

The conference organized under the slogan “Prophethood and Imamate are Inseparable” and titled “The Approach of the Imams in Educating the Individual and the Nation,” runs from June 27, 2024, to July 4, 2024.

The researcher presented Imam Ali’s views and thoughts on social harmony and peaceful coexistence, particularly for Muslims in Europe, and examined how the Imam dealt with issues of tolerance and cultural differences during the expansion of Islam.

Dr. Gerhold aimed to draw guidance from Imam Ali’s approach to dealing with cultural and religious diversity in a secular society, highlighting key questions regarding Imam Ali’s treatment of others, his perspectives on human rights and different cultures, and his approach on authority.
