Australian-US Research Team Develops AI Tool to Rapidly Classify Brain Tumors
Australian and American researchers have developed a new artificial intelligence tool that can quickly and accurately classify brain tumors, VOA reported yesterday.
The current method for identifying different types of brain tumors, while accurate, can take several weeks to produce results and is not widely available globally. To address these challenges, the research team created a deep learning model that can classify brain tumors into 10 major categories using microscopic tissue images.
The AI-powered system, called DEPLOY, is intended to complement the initial diagnosis made by pathologists or physicians.
According to the article, testing on large datasets showed the model achieved an impressive accuracy rate of 95%.
Researchers believe this new AI technology will significantly enhance current brain tumor diagnostic methods, which can be time-consuming, allowing patients to receive critical treatment more promptly.
