Grand Ayatollah Shirazi remarks on conditions of Apostasy during daily scholarly meeting
The daily scholarly meeting of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadegh al-Hosseini al-Shirazi was held on Wednesday, the 29th of Shawwal. In this session, like the previous meetings, the Marja answered the questions of the attendees about various jurisprudential issues.
On the ruling of a person who denies the obligation of fasting or any other obligation, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi said: Such people are not considered apostates, and there are problems in both the subject and the implementation of the rulings of apostasy regarding such people, because the narrations explaining apostasy does not encompass such cases.
His Eminence continued: The implementation of Sharia Ahkam, including apostasy, has conditions that are usually not complete, so apostasy does not include many cases, and there are also problems with the implementation of rulings related to it.
The Marja also emphasized: During the time of the Holy Prophet, many people became apostates, and like the hypocrites, they even used the worst insults against him, but the Messenger of God did not implement the Ahkam of apostasy for any of them. Even during the time of Amir ul-Momineen, there were those who fought him and if they could, they would have martyred his Holiness, like Ibn Muljam, but Amir al-Mu’minin did not execute the Ahkam and Hudud of apostacy in relation to them.
