Shias worldwide commemorate martyrdom anniversary of Imam Jafar al-Sadiq
Shias around the world are commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Jafar al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, which falls on Shawwal 25th, corresponding to May 4th.
Mourning ceremonies and lectures are being held in the holy shrines, Islamic centers, mosques, Husseiniyahs to highlight the honorable biography and knowledge of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq, peace be upon him.
In Holy Karbala, the holy shrine of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, has been covered with black banners in commemoration of this sorrowful occasion.
Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq is the sixth infallible Imam of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them. He is buried along with Imam al-Hassan, Imam al-Sajjad and Imam al-Baqir at the Baqi Cemetery in Medina.
The Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Al-Husseini Al-Shirazi, has called on Muslims and the entire world to spread the moral teachings and knowledge of Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, describing his legacy as a culture of security and peace for all humanity.
