More than 10,400 homes flooded across Russia
Over 10,400 residential houses have been flooded in Russia’s western Siberia, the Volga region, and Urals, Xinhua reported yesterday.
In the Orenburg region, more than 6,100 people have been evacuated, with 33 temporary accommodation centers set up for 33,000 people, according to Russian emergency authorities.
The peak of the flood is expected on April 10, and the situation along the Ural River is not expected to normalize before April 25.
More than 18,000 people are in the flood-threatened zone, and rising temperatures, snowmelt, and river thawing are expected to increase flood risks in low-lying areas and transportation infrastructure.
