Myanmar army wants help from Muslim Rohingyas years after massacre
Nearly seven years after Myanmar’s army massacred thousands of Muslim Rohingyas, in what the UN called “textbook ethnic cleansing”, it is now demanding their help in fighting armed opposition.
According to BBC, some 100 Muslim Rohingyas living in Rakhine state have been conscripted in recent weeks to fight for the embattled junta.
Myanmar army officers have been going around Rohingya camps ordering the younger men to report for military training, the source mentioned.
It should be noted that, in recent weeks, the Myanmar army has suffered significant defeats from the opposition forces in different parts of the country, and on Saturday it lost control of “Myawadi”, a city on the eastern border with Thailand.
