Hundreds of Shia mourners commemorate martyrdom of Imam Ali in Hyderabad, India
The Indian newspaper “Wake Up Telangana” reported that hundreds of followers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, in Hyderabad and several other cities and states participated in commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him, on the anniversary of his painful martyrdom.
The newspaper explained that “a large number of mourners performed the sacred ritual of self-flagellation and Tatbir in sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of the successor of the Messenger of Allah, Imam Ali, peace be upon him.”
Additionally, the newspaper noted that “the routes were highly secured by police forces to protect mourners from potential terrorist threats, while mourners appreciated the high level of care and concern shown by local authorities.”
The India newspaper concluded that “the mourning processions were not limited to Shia Muslims, as a large number of Sunni Muslims also participated in remembering this great tragedy.”
