Gunmen kidnap at least 100 villagers in latest mass abduction in northern Nigeria
Armed gangs raided two villages in Nigeria’s northwest over the weekend, seizing at least 100 people from their homes, the Associated Press reported.
According to the news agency, the attackers, who were previously herders in conflict with local communities, abducted 14 women from the Dogon Noma community on Saturday and seized 87 people from the Kajuru-Station community on Sunday night.
This comes after the recent abduction of nearly 300 schoolchildren in the same state.
The kidnappings are believed to be the work of bandit groups known for mass killings and kidnappings in Nigeria’s northwestern and central regions.
