Militiamen ambush travelers in eastern DRC, killing 15
Militia fighters in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo’s Ituri province killed 15 people in an attack targeting the rival Hema tribe, TRTWorld reported.
The CODECO militia, claiming to defend the interests of the Lendu group, ambushed and killed 15 people, including one woman, near the village of Tali.
According to reports, the victims were tied up, undressed, and some had their throats cut or were shot dead, with the bodies showing signs of torture.
The attack occurred after months of peace, as CODECO was among several Congolese armed groups that signed a peace deal last year after negotiations in Nairobi.
