Shia groups gather in Melbourne for Eid al-Ghadir.

 Representatives of a number of Shia groups and associations from different nationalities held a gathering in Melbourne, Australia, on Sunday.

 

 Representatives of a number of Shia groups and associations from different nationalities held a gathering in Melbourne, Australia, on Sunday.

It was organized by Australia’s Yaseen Association in cooperation with “A Beacon of Hope” Institute on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir, according to the association’s public relations office. 

Iranian, Iraqi, Pakistani, Indian, Afghan and Lebanese Shias residing in Australia attended the event, which began with congregational Maghrib and Isha prayers.

After recitation of verses from the Quran, Sayyed Ahmad Hakim delivered a speech on the virtues of Imam Ali peace be upon him. There were also eulogy recitations in praise of the first Imam, peace be upon him.

Eid al-Ghadir is among important feasts and happy holidays of Shia Muslims held on the 18th day of Dhul-Hijja in the lunar Hijri calendar.
