Shia Rights Watch International Organization is calling for the release of Sheikh Zakzaky,who has been detained for no crime committed more than two years ago.

 

Shia Rights Watch International Organization is calling for the release of Sheikh Zakzaky,who has been detained for no crime committed more than two years ago.

The organization said in a statement that the SheikhZakzakyhas been taken intoprison since December 12, 2015, when the army killed and arrested dozens of Nigerian Shias in the city of Zaria, while preparations were being made for the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him.

The statement added that during the arrest, SheikhZakzaky was subjected to brutal torture that almost blinded him, while the army insisted that he should not be released despite the court’s decision to nullify the charges against him.

The statement further added that what is happening against Sheikh Zakzaky in Nigeria is clear evidence of the deterioration of the human rights file in that country.
