Shia Rights Watch International Organization recently spotted the growing phenomenon of kidnapping Shia merchants in a noticeable and unprecedented manner in the Republic of Madagascar, which clearly suggests the presence of sectarian motives for such serious crimes.

During the past few days,Shiacitizen Rafiq Fida Hussain was abducted by an armed group to be released later in exchange for a huge ransom, in addition to an armed robbery crime in middle of the day on one of the Shia stores.

Organization considers the occurrence of such crimes in a coordinated manner and within a short period of time a cause for concern and suspicion, hypothesizing the existence of suspicious sectarian agendas. The organization calls the authorities in Madagascar to take serious investigation into the circumstances of what is taking place, and to search deeply into those crimes.
