Quran Contest for Teenagers in Quetta, Pakistan, on Eid

A Quran recitation contest has been planned for teenagers in Quetta, Pakistan, on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadeer.

The contest will be held at the city’s Yazdan Khan school on Tuesday.  

There will be other programs to celebrate the occasion, as well as Pakistan’s Independence Day, including sport contests and speeches in Urdu and English.

Many participants have registered in the contest. 

The event of Ghadeer is celebrated by Shia Muslims around the world every year. It is among important feasts and happy holidays of Shia Muslims held on the 18th day of Dhul Hijja in the lunar Hijri calendar.

Islam is the state religion of Pakistan, and about 98% of Pakistanis are Muslim. It is estimated that some 20 percent of the Pakistani population is Shia Muslim.
