Two soldiers injured in ISIS attack against checkpoint, north of Diyala

Two soldiers were wounded in an armed attack against a security checkpoint, north of Diyala, a security source from the province said on Friday.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said “a joint security checkpoint at the outskirts of Hawi al-Udhaim region saw, last night, an armed attack by ISIS, leaving two soldiers injured.”

The situation, according to the source, is under control as the whole region was combed to follow the militants.

ISIS continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country.

In the same context, Iraqi joint forces have arrested twelve terrorists and found families of Islamic State members in the depth of desert, within operations carried out, west of Nineveh.

“Army, police and al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) started today an operation combing Hatra region and the desert, west of Nineveh,” an army source told Alghad Press on Friday.

The troops, according to the source, “arrested 12 ISIS wanted members, in addition to destroying two tunnels and detonating 23 bombs.”
