Iraqi army recaptures Jurf al-Sakhar and defuses more than 100 IEDs
The Iraqi military recaptured a town south of Baghdad from the IS takfiri group backed by allied Shia fighters.
According to Al-Iraqiya TV, the army is in complete control of the mainly Sunni town of Jurf Al-Sakhr, some 60 kilometres south-west of Baghdad, which is located near a major route linking Baghdad to Iraq’s largely Shia provinces in the south.
A security source said that more than 100 IEDs were defused and detonated in Jurf al-Sakhar district, adding that the engineering effort of the security forces managed to foil and destroy more than 100 explosive devices in the center of Jurf al-Sakhar district.
