A roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan's southern province of Helmand killed 11 civilians, local authorities said.
"A minibus carrying civilians touched off an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Mullah Abbas locality, Nawa district late Friday night. The blast killed all 11 people aboard the vehicle that was destroyed by the blast," provincial government spokesman Omar Zwak was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency.
The district has been the scene of heavy fighting between the Afghan security forces and the militants of the Taliban radical movement, outlawed in Russia, for a long time.
The country in general has been suffering from social and economic instability triggered by fighting against the numerous terrorist groups operating on its territory.
