A quarter of Somalia’s population, or 4.3 million people, is at risk of going hungry by the end of the year, the UN has warned, as the impoverished country in the Horn of Africa faces deadly floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the World Food Programme (WFP), the floods have severely affected communities already struggling to recover from the worst drought in decades, which brought millions to the brink of starvation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Humanitarian aid has so far prevented a famine situation, but according to the WFP, Somalia is facing its worst levels of malnutrition for more than a decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to insufficient funding, the UN agency is only able to provide food assistance to less than half of those most in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
