<\/span><\/p>\n The Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi said that the policy of fighting the Husseini rituals and trying to prevent them was and still is an attempt by those he described as imams of misguidance and unbelief.<\/p>\n \u201cThe fight against the blessed Husseini rituals is not a new phenomenon. Just like the Umayyads before, there are governments working to prevent the revival of the rituals and tortures those performing them,\u201d the Grand Ayatollah said in his annual speech on the night of the eleventh of the month of Muharram.<\/p>\n His Eminence added, “During my life, I have lived with five previous governments, and I have seen one of them worse than the other with regard to the Husseini cause and the revival of blessed rituals,” alluding to the era of the criminal Baathist regime and its predecessors from the hostile regimes.<\/p>\n His Eminence also indicated that \u201cthe attempt to obliterate and fight the blessed Husseini rituals is not merely represented by fighting them directly.
