With Ramadan reaching its half, Muslims around the world hold celebrations to revive the memory of a character who saved Islam by virtue of patience, prudence, and generosity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba was born on Ramadan 15 in Medina, and was the eldest son of Imam Ali and Sayyeda Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was the second Shia Imam, succeeding his father Amir al-Momineen, peace be upon them. Imam Hassan and his brother Imam Hussein (peace be upon them) were described by the Holy Prophet as the Masters of the youth of Paradise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is one of the Five \u201cCompanions of the Cloak\u201d, who were honored by God in the verse of Tatheer as being purified from all ill and evil. Along with his brother, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), was taken to the Event of Mubahala to represent \u201cthe Sons of Prophethood\u201d and proof for the prophet\u2019s truthfulness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He served his father Amir al-Mo\u2019mineen in significant events, including the Battle of Jamal, where he fought with exceptional valour and skill to defeat the army of Nakithin led by Aisha. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He assumed leadership of the Muslim community at a time when Muawiya was seeking to consolidate his power over the Muslim world with numerous plots and conspiracies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although Imam Hassan, peace be upon him, set out to eliminate this evil permanently in battlefield, he was forced to accept a treaty when commanders and much of his army abandoned him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His decision served to expose the true nature of the enemies of Ahlul-Bayt, as Muawiya never fulfilled the terms of the treaty and continued to deviate from the teachings of Islam and Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him and his pure family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hassan, peace be upon him, always kept his house open to visitors who would enjoy generous provisions of food and drink. He constantly gave money and possessions in charity to the needy and would never reject a plea for help. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
