Students at Michaela Community School in Wembley are being prevented from their obligatory prayers in the school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over 3,000 people have signed an online petition complaining about the behaviour of the school which currently provides no prayer facilities for the majority of the students who are Muslim. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to some reports, students have had their prayers abruptly interrupted by teachers and even given in some cases suspension. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The online petition makes allegations that last Thursday students were performing their obligatory prayers in the school yard on prayer mats when a teacher approached them and told them to stop praying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The teacher allegedly said: \u201cYou need to leave your Islamic cultures alone, this is the West,\u201d before telling them they were not allowed a prayer mat at school and that a detention would be issued if this were repeated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
