The report, seen by Shia Waves Agency said that, “Food and energy prices have been soaring around the world as Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine, the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change-related events weigh on the global economy.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It added that, “Countries of the Global South \u2013 especially in the Middle East, Asia and Africa, where the vast majority of the world\u2019s Muslims live \u2013 are also among the worst hit by price surges and shortages of key supplies.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Economists say that spikes in food prices, in turn, force families to reduce expenses on other goods and services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report pointed out that, “In addition to global forces, the region\u2019s economies have also been battered by local factors, from wars to droughts and other natural disasters.
