In the scholarly meeting of his Eminence, held on Wednesday, 15th February, one of the believers asked the following question: “How much reasonable time should be given to a debtor based on verse 280 of chapter Baqara?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi’s answer was as follows: “A debtor must be given reasonable time until they are capable of fulfilling a debt. If they are found financially incapable, the head of the Islamic state must take it upon himself to pay off the debt using the Muslims’ public treasury.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
