{"id":89955,"date":"2023-01-25T15:44:33","date_gmt":"2023-01-25T15:44:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/?p=89955"},"modified":"2023-01-25T15:44:43","modified_gmt":"2023-01-25T15:44:43","slug":"human-rights-group-files-suit-in-germany-against-myanmar-military-over-war-crimes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/myanmar\/89955-human-rights-group-files-suit-in-germany-against-myanmar-military-over-war-crimes\/","title":{"rendered":"Human rights group files suit in Germany against Myanmar military over war crimes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A human rights group and 16 people from Myanmar have filed a criminal complaint in Germany seeking punishment of Myanmar\u2019s generals for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity they alleged were committed in that country after their 2021 government takeover and during a 2017 crackdown on Muslim Rohingya. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortify Rights, a complainant in the case announced Tuesday in Bangkok, noted \u201cthe individuals responsible for crimes related to both have yet to be held accountable.\u201d The federal prosecutor\u2019s office in Germany, where the legal complaint was filed last Friday, declined to comment on it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The office would have to decide whether to file an indictment before the matter can go to court, a potentially lengthy process.
