The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslim) has expressed its strong condemnation of the intimidation and threats to which some journalists are subjected to in Yemen, calling on all Yemeni parties to work to ensure the safety and security of journalists. In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the organization called on the parties involved in the disappearance of some journalists to “immediately release all of them, as well as to stop attempts to harass and silence people,” warning of “the seriousness of the violations committed against members of this group that serve the country.” The statement stressed that “the targeting of journalists represents a violation and a crime that violates international norms and laws, and the perpetrators will be subject to local and international law sooner or later.\u201d In the same context, the organization called on the conflicting parties over power in Yemen to “release those who were revealed to have been arrested because of their journalistic activities, and to drop all sentences and charges that were leveled against them for reporting the circumstances of the war and the accompanying crimes or mistakes, since what they have done is at the heart of their humanitarian work regardless of the party who is behind it.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
