The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) revealed that the number of people forced to flee their homes due to conflict, violence or disasters exceeded 100 million this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a report it issued, the program said, “This hidden crisis is due to gaps in supporting development,” noting that long-term development work is needed to reverse the record levels of internal displacement, especially with millions more expected to be displaced due to climate change, it has so far forced more than 216 million people to evacuate their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report indicated that up to 59.1 million people were forcibly displaced within their countries at the end of 2021, as they struggle to cover their basic needs, find decent work, obtain a stable source of income, enjoy good health, or send their children to school, pointing out that women and children and marginalized groups suffer the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It added that by analyzing the samples provided by the Internal Displacement Center from Colombia, Indonesia, Nepal, Nigeria and Somalia, it was found that a third of the people surveyed who were internally displaced have become unemployed, and that 68% say that they do not have enough money to meet the needs of their families, while a third of them said their health had deteriorated since they fled home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
